Cannes. The post production scheduling gods smiled down on Time Based Arts this year which meant that Mike and James were able to escape the dark Flame suite and head south. Beautiful weather, beautiful location, a lot of Rosé and not a lot of work.

A couple of spots we worked on last year have won a place on the TED initiatives “Ads Worth Spreading” top ten.
In addition Woof-Wan Bau’s Hornbach commercial has also picked up a Mobius Gold and an Epica award.
Very nice.

And whilst we’re on the TED’s, overall winner of the TED prize 2011 was French street artist JR. His first London show was at our spiritual home Jaguar Shoes back in 2006.

We’re delighted to be voted amongst the top ten most rated post companies in this years Televisual “Commercials 30″ producers poll.

Directed by Robert Samuels is this new UK feature, The Hunting Moon. It’s a thriller that’s causing quite a stir.

Our good friend and interiors collaborator here at the cottage Rupert Blanchard has launched his 2010 furniture collection at Elemental in Spitalfields Market. He’s an amazingly talented designer and furniture maker working with reclaimed materials to craft beautiful new pieces.
Rupert created our kitchen units here at the cottage which are often praised by visitors and he’s recently designed desks and shelving for our lower ground floor studio.

Shooting QQ.com with Woof Wan-Bau, Beijing, China.

The Dark Horses are something of an enigma and this introduction to the band in the form of a short film by the master W.I.Z certainly adds to the mystery. They are a creative force that have been consistently supporting Kasabian and The Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – in fact they’re supporting Kasabian tomorrow night at the Brixton Academy.
The film was cut by Leila Sarraf, and here at Time Based Arts Matt Wilmshurst onlined with a grade as well as integrating the typography. It’s screening this week at the Duke of York Theatre in Brighton.

Hornbach Shoot Stills – Bucharest, Romania.

Sheldon supervised the shoot in Romania of Woof Wan Bau’s latest commercial for European home improvement chain HornBach.
Here’s a selection of stills from the sound stage that show the truly epic scale of the film’s production. We completed nearly 100 effects shots on the final nine-minute film titled “The Infinite House”.

Check out this incredible animated film produced by Knife Party.
It aims to reflect on the “online war against global warming in a post-Copenhagen world.”
Simon Robson of Knife Party (and the driving force of the project) asked us to help finalise with some grading across the whole film. It’s an incredible undertaking from a huge team of talented and committed makers which carries a strong message.

On location in Majorca with Palma Pictures for the shoot of Nintendo Super Mario Galaxy 2.
As of June 30, 2010, Super Mario Galaxy 2 has sold 4.09 million copies worldwide!

Sheldon gave the final grade to this series of commercials for Dutch postal company TNT, directed by French duo Fx & Mat out of Nexus. They were composited in house at Nexus and star a rather charming 3D pigeon. We love their work. Check it out here.

The company bike got it’s first official outing last weekend on the 2010 London Tweed Run.
Simon was on hand as a marshal to dispense first aid (for both for bikes and riders) and we’re presuming emergency Gin & Tonics!

The long winter is over. It’s official!

As Jude Law was quoted as saying; “I defy anyone to find a better cupcake”!
We’re with Jude on this one.

It’s an 1975 Raleigh butchers bike (built from an original 1940′s design) and beautifully restored by Simon Thompson our resident bike guru. More pics to follow soon.

Following on from last years collaboration with Smith&Foulkes we’ve just completed the online on their latest creation, this US spot for Hewlett Packard printers.

James has been recognised in the Televisual Magazine Production Company poll of favoured VFX artists in London. Of course we’re also delighted to get the company name up there amongst the “big three” and it proves that yet again it’s all about the talent.

The BBC Electric Proms go from strength to strength each year with this year’s kicking off tonight with Robbie Williams. Luc Janin has just completed the official trails playing out across all BBC channels. He offlined the films here at Time Based Arts as well as shooting a couple of pick up shots on location in the adjoining yard. We then on-lined the films, compositing multi-passes and performing clean up as well as seamlessly amending some poster event details. Click on the image above.

Congratulations to Anthony for picking up a UK Music Video Award last night for Speech Debelle – The Key.
Regarding the other three he was up for, (apart from being robbed on the night obviously) well done for putting together such a strong body of work that’s rightly been recognised industry wide.

Congratulations to Anthony (Dickenson) for his multiple nominations at the forthcoming UK Music Video Awards.

It’s been a huge year for Anthony and we’re delighted all his hard work is being recognised, most notably with a nomination for the Best New Director award.

He’s also up there for Best Budget Video – (Pop, Dance, Urban) for Speech Debelle – “The Key” as well as for two promos in the Best Visual Effects in a Video category.
These are for Miike Snow – “Animal” and TheXX – “Basic Space” both of which we contributed to here at Time Based Arts.
